Resident Docent Program

Step back in time and become a lighthouse keeper with The Ridges Sanctuary and Baileys Harbor Range Lights. This unique opportunity lets you experience life as it was over 100 years ago, maintaining a piece of maritime history.

As a volunteer docent, you’ll manage daily operations, lead tours, care for the facility, and ensure the lights remain operational for modern sailors. In exchange, you’ll enjoy complimentary lodging during your 7-day stay.

If you like working with people and are interested in sharing information about the history of the Baileys Harbor Range Lights and life in Door County in the early 1900’s, volunteering as a volunteer range light docent may be for you.

Opportunities for the docent program are available from June through October. Applications to be considered for the 2025 season become available by December 31st and are due by January 31, 2025. Selected docents will be notified in February about their upcoming volunteer commitment. To stay up to date on application availability and news, join our email list, linked at the top of this page.
