Dogs are not allowed. Our first priority as a natural area is to create a refuge for nature where the impacts of human activity don’t interfere with the survival of native plants and animals. It’s up to us to ensure that we use the best management practices to conserve these unique areas (including Logan Creek and Appel’s Bluff) for biodiversity. Service dogs are welcome and must be identified to Nature Center staff when entering. Visitors who arrive with pets will be directed to exit.

There are many parks and trails in Door County where leashed dogs are welcome, including Peninsula State Park in Fish Creek, Whitefish Dunes State Park in Jacksonport, Cave Point County Park in Jacksonport and Crossroads in Sturgeon Bay. For your convenience, there is also a dog park here in Baileys Harbor located at 2392 Cty F.

A day pass helps us keep the trails maintained and supports The Ridges’ operating budget, which also helps fund the extensive research we conduct on our properties. The Ridges is a private, not-for-profit, membership-funded organization.

Yes! We offer guided snowshoe hikes throughout the winter. Snowshoes are also available for rent at the Nature Center to be used at the Sanctuary for $5. Cross-country skiing is allowed but please note that we do not groom our trails.

We do not allow bikes, scooters and segways on our trails for similar reasons as pets.

While the facility is accessible for wheelchairs, a special consideration while you plan your visit is that our entrance doors are not automatic at this time. Additionally, the 1,800-foot Hidden Brook boardwalk is accessible as well. The Trackchair, our all-terrain wheelchair, is also available by reservation. For more information, go here.

We do allow hunting in specific locations and only during specific times.

Programs and workshops meet at the Cook-Albert Fuller Nature Center unless otherwise noted.

Out of consideration of other visitors, staff and volunteers, smoking and tobacco use (including smokeless cigarettes) is prohibited anywhere on Sanctuary and other Ridges properties.

Yes! The EV charging station located in the Cook-Albert Fuller Nature Center parking lot is a great place to sustainably charge your vehicle while going on a hike or attending a program. Donations keep this program free to the public and are encouraged.
