Indigenous Heritage

Land Acknowledgement

The Ridges Sanctuary is located in Baileys Harbor and Jacksonport, Wisconsin. As part of the greater Door Peninsula and Green Bay basin, we recognize these lands as the land of the Menominee and Potawatomi, Odawa (Ottawa), Sauk, Ojibwe, Petun, and Huron peoples. As stewards of The Ridges Sanctuary, we will continue to learn the history and present realities from First Nations with connections to this land and educate each other about those to whom these lands have belonged.
