SUMMARY:Planting Day at Family Discovery Trail
DESCRIPTION:Planting Day at Family Discovery Trail\n\n\n\nJoin us at our Family Discovery Trail parking lot at 10:00 am – noon for the Boreal Climate Survivability Tree Planting project\, a collaboration between the Climate Change Coalition of Door County and The Ridges Sanctuary. We will be working within Plot 2\, about a 1-mile hike out and back\, located within the meadow along the red trail. We will provide planting tools however\, come prepared to get dirty! We recommend bringing your own gloves\, sun protection\, water and a snack. The Boreal Climate Survivability project is part of a long-term study to track forest changes over time.  \n\n\n\nPlease contact Victoria Holderer (victoria@ridgessanctuary.org or 920-839-2802 x113) with any questions or to participate!  \n\n\n\nAddress: 8297 WI-57\, Baileys Harbor\, WI 54202  \n\n\n\nDirections: Head north on Hwy 57 for about .5 miles\, past the Range Light. On your left\, after the turn off for Highway Q\, you will see a gravel parking lot. Turn left into parking lot at 8297 WI-57.  \n\n\n\nAccessibility Considerations: Hiking about 1 mile on uneven surfaces\, daytime program\, manual labor\, moving trees\, planting trees\, digging holes\, outdoor program\, no restrooms available\, port-a-potty on site. \n\n\n\nDistance: ~1.0 miles

DESCRIPTION:Stewardship Workshop: Invasive Species\n\n\n\nBecome your own land steward through our Stewardship Workshop series this summer at The Ridges! These workshops will focus on local environmental issues and what landowners can do to better manage and protect their own property. Land Manager Sam Hoffman will lead discussions and demonstrate different techniques ranging from plant identification and invasive species control\, to promoting diverse wildlife habitats in your own backyard. Participants will receive take home materials to help them practice stewardship on their properties!  \n\n\n\nPre-registration required.
