He taught a wide variety of courses on economic theory\, finance\, and public policy. He also taught courses with public policy applications in the environmental studies department. His favorite is a course he designed on the challenges of wildlife translocations. His published research examines public policies such as conservation easements\, voter referenda for land purchases\, and property tax abatements for conservation. Jeff’s most recent project is working with The Endangered Wildlife Trust of Southern Africa to evaluate the motivations and experiences of South African farmers who enrolled land in a program designed to improve both agricultural productivity and ecological biodiversity.  \n\n\n\nJeff has been a board member with the International Crane Foundation\, serving as the chair of the Finance Committee.  He was also the board president for a county-wide land trust and chaired the education committee of the Chicago Audubon Society. He is an avid birder who has led bird walks for these and other groups\, monitors nest boxes on a local bluebird trail\, and works on several habitat restoration projects.    \n\n\n\nAshley Prange – Nominated for Second Term\n\n\n\nBorn and raised in Green Bay\, Ashley spent summers in Egg Harbor and has worked in Washington\, D.C. as a Capitol Hill staffer and as an analyst in the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. She is the founder and CEO of Au Naturale Cosmetics\, which emphasizes responsible and sustainable supply chains\, philanthropic profit sharing\, the empowerment of organic farmers\, advocacy for state and federal policies that champion the environment and consumer safety in personal care\, and investment in zero-footprint packaging. Her company has earned features and awards from Allure\, InStyle\, Good Housekeeping\, Domino\, Vogue\, and Real Simple magazines. She is also on the boards of the Natural and Organic Beauty Alliance and St. Norbert College. Prange’s passion for the environment is apparent in every decision she makes\, from her business to the natural preservation of her piece of Door County landscape. \n\n\n\nEd Miller – Nominated for Second Term\n\n\n\nEd has Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Engineering from The University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. He enjoyed a 33-year career with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. When he retired in 2007\, Ed was the supervisor of the DNR Southeast District Air Monitoring Section. He is involved in many Ridges volunteer activities\, particularly with the Wednesday Crew. Ed and his wife Sandy oversee the restoration of the Baileys Harbor Range Lights. He also re-enacts the role of a of a lighthouse keeper at the Range Lights. Ed previously served two three-year terms on The Ridges board from 2011 to 2017\, the last five as board Secretary. He is looking forward to the privilege of serving once again as a Ridges board member and helping to guide The Ridges in a strategic direction while being faithful to its roots. \n\n\n\nMark Martin – Nominated for Second Term\n\n\n\nMark earned a Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Management from the University of Wisconsin Madison. He worked for 40 years at the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources as a wildlife research technician and conservation biologist with the Bureau of Endangered Resources. Gathering Waters recently awarded Mark and his wife\, Susan\, the Harold “Bud” Jordahl Lifetime Achievement Award honoring their achievements in extraordinary land conservation projects and accomplishments. Halloween themed stations along the Hidden Brook Boardwalk will highlight the creepiest critters that call The Ridges home. After you’ve explored the trail\, join us for treats\, a spooky story around the campfire\, and a special appearance from Sway Brewing + Blending. This Halloween Hike is the perfect event for all ages (including adults!). Adult and child treat tables will be stationed on the front lawn to enjoy after your hike. \n\n\n\nPre-registration is not necessary but encouraged. Tickets can be purchased at the Cook-Albert Fuller Nature Center upon arrival. SUMMARY:Wreath Making Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Wreath Making Workshop\n\n\n\nCome to The Ridges Sanctuary to create your perfect holiday wreath! We will provide the frames\, wire\, greens and decorative goodies for you to create your wreath or swag.   \n\n\n\nWreath Making Workshops will be offered Friday December 4 and Saturday December 5. There will be six sessions total\, with a session at 10:00 am\, 12:00 pm\, and 2:00 pm on Friday and Saturday. Each session will allow for 20 people at a time.  \n\n\n\nThere is a $30 fee\, which includes materials for 1 wreath. Additional wreaths and swags are $15 each. If you would like to recycle your frame from last year\, the fee is $20. Pre-Registration is required for the 6 workshops so we can ensure we have enough materials for everyone.  \n\n\n\nPlease note: each individual registration should reflect what one individual is going to make. In this registration process\, you will be able to select how many wreaths and/or swags you intend to make during the 90-minute workshop.  \n\n\n\nIf you have two or more people making wreaths for the same household\, please register as an individual and indicate that you have multiple people attending in the registration questions.  \n\n\n\nIf you have multiple people in different households making wreaths\, you must register each person separately. \n\n\n\nPlease dress in layers\, we’re working in a garage! \n\n\n\nAccessibility Considerations: Gravel parking lot\, workshop\, daytime program\, no seating available\, no restrooms available\, port-a-potty on site.

DESCRIPTION:Natural Christmas\n\n\n\nYou deserve to spend a few hours this holiday season surrounded by the natural beauty of The Ridges Sanctuary at Natural Christmas! Stroll down the softly lit Hidden Brook Boardwalk and join us in our beautifully decorated Kaye Cabin\, while sipping on warm cider\, eating delicious cookies and listening to holiday music. This program offers a wreath-making workshop\, holiday crafts\, and even marshmallows and chestnuts around the open fire. Guided hikes and tours of the Range Light are available throughout the event.  \n\n\n\nNatural Christmas Event is free.  \n\n\n\nWreath making is $30\, which includes materials for 1 wreath per household. Additional wreaths and swags are $15 each.  \n\n\n\n*No registration necessary for this wreath making workshop\, but you do need to register for the December 4 and 5 Wreath Making Workshops. First come first serve!  \n\n\n\nParking for this event is located at the Cook-Albert Fuller Nature Center (8166 State Hwy 57\, Baileys Harbor). Handicap accessible parking is available at the Cabins at The Ridges (8288 County Rd.
