Wisconsin’s 2023 Gun Deer Hunting Season (November 18-26)

The nine-day hunt is important to conserve and protect the great biodiversity that we are fortunate to experience at The Ridges Sanctuary. The overabundance of white-tailed deer can be detrimental to many species of wildflowers and trees, and harvesting deer on Ridges’ property is one way to get involved in Door County’s conservation practices.

To ensure the safety of our visitors, all Ridges trails will be closed during the nine-day hunt. The trail closures apply to hiking trails in Baileys Harbor and at The Ridges’ Logan Creek Property near Jacksonport.

The two exceptions are our Hidden Brook and Range Light Boardwalks, which will remain open from dawn until dusk. While these sections of the property are not accessible for hunting, wearing blaze orange is mandatory.

If you are a hunter and would like to utilize our property for your hunt, please refer to the maps to determine property boundaries and permitted hunting seasons. We also ask you to complete and return a hunting registration form. In addition, please familiarize yourself with Ridges hunting policies prior to accessing our property.
